Hemlines Down, Self-Esteem up:
The New Modesty Movement Continues

Cofounded by model Brenda Sharman in 2005, Pure Fashion was designed as a training program to instruct girls how to respect their bodies as they develop their own taste in a world full of sometimes unsavory choices -- and how to shop for clothes that make them feel confident but not too sexy. Annual fashion shows showcase the participating models' (ages 14-18) strengthened self-esteem.

Choices Atlanta has selected
Brenda Sharman as
"Woman of the Year 2007
"

Dedication, determination and a sense of purpose are qualities we attribute to success. Add an unwavering commitment to faith, hope and charity and you have an extraordinary person that exceeds the boundaries of measurable success. In our choice for “Woman of the Year 2007,” we considered a list of qualities and achievements with an emphasis on the virtue of charity. As a model in real life, we believe that Brenda Sharman is an extraordinary woman and “role model of charity” for all of us, as a wife, mother, friend, educator and co-worker.

This past November, Brenda was honored with the annual award for her work in promoting the value of modesty among young women. As the National Director of Pure Fashion, Brenda leads the country’s fastest-growing character formation program for young women promoting chastity, purity and self-respect. Steve was selected as one of
Atlanta's 50 Most Beautiful Atlantans by Jezebel Magazine in 2004

JEZEBEL presents its seventh annual "50 Most Beautiful Atlantans" feature. We reviewed countless applications and met with hundreds of great looking and deserving Atlantans before selecting these 50 men and women. This elite group exudes beauty on both the inside and out, and represents a diverse group of successful and interesting Atlanta residents.

This Charlotte native made Atlanta his home 25 years ago, and said he's maintained integrity and good character on a daily basis while working in competitive industries. He has a lot of dignity as well. Once when Steve was participating in a fashion show (he models for Elite), he walked off the end of the runway in front of hundreds of people. He stood up, smiled and walked off. Good for you, Steve! He continues to be involved in a variety of Catholic ministries and groups, and four years ago he and his wife bought a house to provide a home for a Kosovo refugee extended family of 15; now all of the four brothers and their families live in their own homes.

He plays his guitar and sings really loudly, usually in private...but he once helped sing "My Girl" onstage at Chastain Park with the Temptations. His proudest accomplishment? His sons (9 and 2 1/2 years old) and his marriage to his wife, who he says is his definition of true beauty.
